I started this game a couple years ago but never finished it. The release of Halo Infinite motivated me to return to it.
Like all Halo games, I thought this one was fine. Unlike the other Halo games, I beat this one solo! I realized afterward that it was the only one I had finished completely by myself. Frankly, I think it enhanced my experience. I was able to keep the story in my head much better, which made the whole thing feel a little less mindless.
I think it’s also the last one I’ll beat on a difficulty higher than Normal. I just don’t think Halo games tune their difficulties in a very interesting way. Definitely just wasn’t having fun toward the end, but sunk-cost fallacy kept me in it for the long haul.
Anyway, idk, the game is decent. The gunplay is as good as it has ever been (Infinite, I’m sure, is even better), and the story is sufficient (it probably helps that I don’t really care about the lore, so Halo stories can’t make me mad). I have hardly touched the multiplayer and don’t really intend to, so no comment on that.
Looking forward to playing Halo Infinite. Maybe I’ll do it in a slightly more timely manner.
